PRE-SEASON CONDITIONING AND WORKOUTS

Get ready for the season, acclimate to the heat, connect with your jag fam. You do not need to be registered to attend pre-season conditioning. Join us, starting May 20th, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00pm-7:30pm at Constitution Park. 3200 W. 7000 S.

This is also a great way to test the waters for those new players that aren’t quite sure yet!

You do not need to be registered to attend pre season conditioning. All ages are welcome!

NEW PLAYER REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

If you are a new player this year, or have moved from another district in the Ute Conference, we will need to check your players birth certificate for age verification and proof of address, a utility bill with your name and address will work. This is required by the Ute Conference. Registration is not complete without these.  You can email these to westjordan@ucfootball.org. Please do this at your soonest convenience so we can finalize your registration.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THE SEASON

Get some good cleats, and mouthguards, get a few, maybe a few hundred (mostly kidding) they go through them like crazy! The rest of the equipment will be handed out at the equipment pick ups.

EQUIPMENT PICK UP

Saturday, July 12th, registered players will be fitted for equipment and we will check out their helmet and shoulder pads for the season. These will be returned after the last game. You are responsible for the equipment while checked out to you, please take care of it and don’t lose it. If lost, you will be charged to replace it before we can issue you a replacement. We recommend checking and tightening the screws often, these helmets go through alot during practices and games, help us keep them in good shape, and keep the kids safe!

Equipment Pick Up will be done in divisions, youngest to oldest. Scout and Gremlin 9am-10am, Peewee and Mitymite 10am-11am, Gridiron and Bantam 11am-12pm. Players will also be fitted for their jerseys and game pants today, but will not be taking those home quite yet.

TRYOUTS

It’s important to attend tryouts, not only for team placement but also to help the players acclimate to the heat while wearing their football gear. Make sure your player brings lots of water to every practice and game.

WEST JORDAN OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN

Tuesday, August 5th starting at 6pm. It is crucial you make this date and time. Your player will not be allowed to play in games until they have been weighed in by the conference liaison. If you absolutely cannot make West Jordan’s scheduled weigh in, you must contact the district president to see if we can get you scheduled at another district’s weigh in going on this same week, this has to be scheduled and approved by the president. They will have a make-up day for those that couldn’t make it to any of the weigh-ins, however, it will be held after the first official season game, meaning your player will miss the first official game.

An X-Man can self declare without weighing in. If your player is an X-man, let us know prior to August 5th. This player will not need to attend weigh-ins. Please know that your status at weigh-in, is your status for the season, there are no changes made during the season. If you are an X-man, you are for the entire season.  All X-men must have a white X placed on the front and back of their helmet.

NO DOGS ALLOWED

We love all our furry friends and family members and really hate having to kick them out of games, however, not only is this a safety measure (for the humans and the animals) it’s also a conference rule, meaning it applies at all fields you will play at. Please leave your dogs/pets at home during ALL games.

PRE-SEASON FUNDRAISER GAME

Saturday, August 9th, 2025. Schedules and location will be announced a week prior. This game is a fundraiser for all 3 districts hosting (West Jordan, Copper Hills and Murray)  Ages 11 and up is a $5.00 admission fee for all non players and coaches.

The money raised is divided evenly between the 3 hosting districts, and goes towards district equipment, practice gear and other district needs.

GAME DAYS

  • How Game Days Work

West Jordan home fields are at Constitution Park. Our district will host 5 regular season games. Our hosting days for 2025 are TBD. This does NOT mean all of our teams will play at home these days. There are many factors involved, for example, referees, board members, etc.

  • Notification Flags

Each game field at West Jordan will have 3 flags on the home side, laying on the sideline, if a board member, medic, or officer is needed on the field, please have someone raise that flag and wave it. This helps everyone be able to see what is needed and have a faster response time. RED-MEDIC, YELLOW-OFFICER, GREEN-BOARD MEMBER

  • Coach Requirements On Game Days

Any coaches with the first games of the day (9:00AM games) will be required to show up at 7:00AM to help set up the fields. Coaches with the last games of the day will be required to stay after and take down the fields. Any coaches refusing to do so will lose the privilege of playing at home.

  • Team Parent Game Day Requirements

Team moms will be responsible for making sure the garbage is cleaned up on the field that their team played on, this is for both sides (home and visitor) whether that is the team mom themselves doing it, or delegating, but the team mom is responsible for making sure it is done. The team mom will be supplied with garbage bags at the beginning of the season to make sure this is done.  Just like the coaches requirements, if this doesn’t get done, this team will lose the privilege of playing at home as well.

  • Parents, Players, Spectator Game Day Requirements

No pets at game fields.

No smoking or vaping at game fields, you may go to the parking lot to do so.

There is zero tolerance for rude/abusive/negative behavior towards the coaches, board members, referees, players, opposing team, etc. If violated you will be asked to leave. If the referees get involved and ask you to leave, you will be removed from the current game and suspended for 2 more, your player will be suspended for 1 game, the head coach could also be ejected for fan behavior. If there is an issue at the game field, you can reach out to board members, someone is always available at the check in tent or snack shack.

REFEREES

We have hired some new referees, which are mostly high school kids to referee the scout and gremlin games, they have been trained to be a little more lenient on calls with these age groups as these groups are newer and still learning. Please note that some of these refs could be siblings of our players, our district recruited these refs to try and get more of our teams at home on hosting days.  There will be an absolute ZERO tolerance for negative behavior towards any ref. For scout games, where 1 coach is allowed on the field for games, if there is any negative behavior from any of the coaches, that team will lose the benefit of being able to have ANY coach on the field for games the rest of the season.

FORMING TEAMS – Ages, X’s, Y’s, Z’s

What are they and why do they matter?

Age- Whatever age your child is on July 1st, 2024, is the age group they will automatically be placed in.

X- If a player’s weight puts them in the X-man classification, they will be required to play as an X-man on Offense, Defense and Special Teams. X Players will be required to have an official “X” sticker on the front and back of their helmets.

Y-Up- (play up one division)- Must have parental consent and will be discussed with the board and coaches involved.

Z-Down- (play down one division/age group)-  player must weigh 25 pounds below the X weight of the lower division. Can move down one division only.

*14 year old Bantams may not Z-down to Gridiron.

*No Z-downs to scouts
